INTRO:

So, I’m not all that sure what to think about this book, while there were good elements, I felt it was rushed, not cohesive and well, I’m kinda disappointed.

Worldbuilding:

This was good, as we moved around the two mansions, the city and the various environments in between, there wasn’t any moment where I was scratching my head, unsure where we were or what happened. All scenes were clear and detailed.

Character development:

I think this is where I had the most issue within this instalment. After a kiss, Ana is worried what the others would think but then takes it a lot further without pretty much any hesitation? It just doesn’t make any sense.
While we indeed get to know more about the backstory of our characters, I still don’t feel like we know them. It all just felt very superficial. Their animals are so important, but you hardly read about them… which is a shame cause this is such an interesting concept.
And don’t get me started on Bethany, that’s one piece of the puzzle I really don’t understand.

Pacing & Flow:

While I read the book in one go, I have to say that the book felt rushed. I would have loved it if the author took her time and fleshed out the characters more (more feelings, more insights,…). The POV’s changed and in my opinion, this was a good thing since I love to read from another perspective as well (but that’s just me).

The book itself:

The book itself was well written with no (noticeable) mistakes and yep, there is sex described (if that is important to you).

Final Thoughts:

I liked the potential the plot and characters had in book one, and the ending of this book makes me want to read the next instalment as well, but it will be a while before I will. You know the feeling you sometimes have when something you wanted to be good… just isn’t? That would be me right now 🙁
