INTRO:

I loved this book!!!!
Maybe I’m a tad biased because I love anime and especially everything concerning spirits. As I write this I feel I cannot properly convey my love and appreciation of this story. It just gripped me from the get-go and didn’t let me go.

Worldbuilding:

Was super! Every scene and environment was clear and well detailed. Through the book, we learned more and more about the world (which is present-day earth) and about the yokai and kami.

Character development:

Was superb. Emi goes through a lot and you walk alongside her throughout her journey discovering her purpose and what it means to be Amaterasu’s kamigakari but also her discovery and dealings with the kitsune Shiru and the Tengu Yumei.
Emi’s beliefs and knowledge about good, evil, kami and yokai will be put to the test. Who will she be able to trust?
All characters felt real and believable… yes, even the spiritual beings!
Shiro is absolutely the best, by the way, 😀 He’s a fox, so he’s got the tricks and mischief, but seriously, he is awesome 😀

Pacing & Flow:

Were great, a perfect balance between all the action and conversations, moving the story steadily forward without feeling rushed.

The book itself:

The book itself was really well written, with no (noticeable) errors. There is no sex described in this book (if that is important to you).
Oh oh oh and omg, the art by Brittany Jackson is amazing!!!!!!! It really did add the extra flair to the story.

Final Thoughts:

All in all, I’m soo happy I finally read this book! It was so good, I feel all warm and giddy inside and will check in a minute if I have book 2 yet or not. Everything from this author is now insta-buy. She is a really, really great writer and even if you’re unsure, give it a go… you won’t regret it!
