I’m struggling with my dark side–the demon within me–and only Samael can help me. He has decided we’re dangerous for each other, but I know we need to join forces. If we can’t defeat the Free Men together, I will lose myself to the demon within me, and a darkness will spread across Albia.
As always, the final instalment of a series is a bittersweet read. You want to finish it, but you really don’t want it to be the end.
In this instalment, we finally got to see both Lila and Samael come to terms with who they really are, what they want and why they are fighting the fight.
Alas, we didn’t get to see much of Sourial *sad panda*, so I’m kinda hoping we might get a spin-off with him and Emma (pretty please!!).
Throughout the series, the characters were well fleshed out and had enough depth, enough feelings that made it very easy to become emotionally invested in their fight against the Free Men.
While there were plenty of exciting and action-filled scenes in this book, I felt it had a more mellow feel to it (which isn’t a bad thing, I promise! It just lacked a bit of ‘oompf’). It was a very smooth and easy read with a good balance between action and conversations (and hot tubs :D).
The book was well written with no (noticeable) errors. There is sex described (if that is important to you).
The book is 249 pages long, spread over 37 chapters and told from both Lila’s and Samael’s point of view.
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and all I can say is: well done! I just really like books with angels and demons and mythological creatures 😀
I really hope we will get another series set in this world *points at Sourial* as I would love to read how things are a few years later 🙂
