After five months of journeying across the continent with her sister, Quinn is finally ready to return to the king she swore to serve.
But war has been brewing over Norcasta in her absence. While Lazarus may reign as king, there are those that would see the blood heirs in power instead.
Quinn, however, will never let that happen. Her brutality threatens to drive a wedge between her and those she cares about, but they should know she would do anything to protect them.
Caught between the wills of his Left and Right Hands, Lazarus must navigate the pit of vipers that is his court and decide what sort of king he wants to be. But when Quinn pushes too far, she ignites a series of events that will either cement his rule, or destroy House Fierté entirely.
Okay, so tell me… what the hell am I supposed to do till the next book comes out!?! *hugs her arms around herself, gently rocking*
Ahem… okay let’s get on with the review
Was good. All scenes and environments were well detailed, leaving just enough for your imagination to add the final touches.
Was, as always, great! Risk has grown a lot since the ending of book 3 and while she still has a lot of issues being around men, she is able to hold her own thanks to 5 months of training with her sister. Both Quinn and Lazarus have established who they are, what they want and what they mean to each other… yeah, this book is pretty major for both of them.
And that’s all I’m going to say about that!
Were very good. Great balance between conversations and action. Prepare to be swept away from start till finish, seriously, I’m not kidding, there is always something happening or some important discussion going on to keep the story moving smoothly. Very well done.
The book itself is well written with no (noticeable) errors. And yes, there is sex described (if that is important to you).
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and all in all, I’m suffering from a major book hangover now *sigh*. Can’t wait for the next to come out, it will be spectacular.
This series is dark, but so well written, I really do recommend it to everyone who wants to read something a tad different for once. But beware, you’ll be emotionally invested, craving for more and will never look at pirates the same 😀
