– And she’s falling for the man she once feared.

This was a very pleasant surprise! I’m not going to recap the story; you can read the blurb above, but let’s get to the review.
While the world and what is going on are still pretty much a mystery, and you only know what’s important for the story right now, you don’t feel like you’re missing anything.
But that’s not what grabbed my attention in this book… it was the character development and how well fleshed-out they were. Even in this book, a first installment filled with setting up the stage and giving you all the information (without dumping it on you), the author had the time to dig into the characters of Aurora, Ares, and Mars to paint a compelling and pretty deep picture.
There is a lot going on and a lot of action, but the flow is very smooth as the story progresses. Just beware—it’s an emotional rollercoaster!
I decided on this book for one of the challenges in my book club, and as I’ve said, I was really pleasantly surprised. This was the first book by the author I’ve read, but I’ve put the rest of the series in my ever-growing pile of books I want to read.
There are too many good books and not enough time.
